RAISING AWARENESS
REGARDING SCHIZOPHRENIA

Client : JANSSEN

In order to educate the press about schizophrenia,
Janssen organized two major events in October 2016:
A press conference and an awareness caravan (the Schizo Lab).

During theve events and to allow a better understanding of the pathology, Serious Factory, in collaboration with Janssen, designed a virtual simulation experience, where journalists are immersed in the skin of a schizophrenic person.

Thanks to this simulation, journalists discover in a fun and immersive way a poorly understood pathology and can then talk about it more easily in their next articles.
This initiative received the Gold Prize at the 2016 Health Communication Festival in the “Public Health Communication Prevention Awareness” category.

“The Occulus gear VR is a prime example of technology at the service of health. This immersive experience – whose scenario was written by Dr. David Travers, a famous Psychiatrist at Rennes University Hospital – will allow families and young professionals to better apprehend schizophrenia.
While it is clear that there is still a long way to go, virtual reality may be a solution to addressing the stigma of mental illness. “
